NASHVILLE, TN — June 18, 2025: As the vibrant city of Nashville gears up for a packed calendar of summer concerts, street fairs, and food festivals, an unexpected issue is creating a logistical headache for event organizers: a growing shortage of porta potty rentals.
From the iconic CMA Fest to neighborhood block parties and local food truck rallies, the city is booming with outdoor events. But the high volume of simultaneous gatherings has caused a spike in demand for sanitation solutions—especially portable restrooms. Local vendors say they’re struggling to meet the influx of requests.
“We’ve had to turn away some last-minute bookings this year,” said Anne Smith, General Manager of Sales at Leading Rental LLC, one of Nashville’s top porta potty rental providers. “Our inventory has doubled since last summer, but with how quickly events are coming back post-pandemic, it’s still hard to keep up.”
According to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, more than 200 public events are scheduled in Davidson County between June and August, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Many of these events rely on temporary sanitation facilities, particularly in parks and downtown open-air venues where permanent restrooms are limited.
The sudden strain has led to increased rental prices and longer lead times, pushing organizers to book weeks—even months—in advance. Some smaller community events have had to scale down or rethink their layouts due to porta potty availability.
“We thought it’d be easy to find a few portable toilets for our church fundraiser,” said Rebecca Thomas, a community organizer in East Nashville. “Turns out, we had to call four companies before finding one with availability—and we booked nearly a month in advance!”
The city’s Public Works Department has also acknowledged the challenge, noting that coordination with sanitation rental firms is becoming a critical part of event planning permits.
Leading Rental LLC and other vendors recommend that organizers begin planning their restroom logistics as early as possible. “Don’t leave it until the last minute,” Smith cautioned. “Especially during peak season, porta potty rentals are just as essential as your stage, your sound system, or your food trucks.”
As Nashville continues to cement its status as a cultural hotspot, city planners and vendors alike say better infrastructure planning—including portable sanitation—is key to keeping events clean, compliant, and crowd-friendly.
For those organizing events in the region, now’s the time to look into reliable porta potty rental services—before the music starts and the lines get long.
